$5,000 Grant Received from the UPS Foundation

Gowanda's Historic Hollywood Theater has received a $5,000 grant from the UPS Foundation, which drives global corporate citizenship and philanthropic programs for UPS.

The grant will be used to purchase some much needed sound equipment. Although the theater has great acoustics, what is being said at the front of the house or on stage cannot always be heard clearly by those in the back of the theater or those with hearing issues. The purchase of new equipment will make it much easier to enjoy live performances.

Theater President, Mark Burr, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for us to add to the comfort of our audiences. More and more programs are being added as we work our way through the restoration process. Each little step brings us closer to re-opening the Theater on a permanent basis."

Established in 1951 and based in Atlanta, Georgia, the UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its backing clearly impacts social issues. The UPS Foundation has identified the following focus areas for giving: volunteerism, diversity, community safety and the environment.

In 2014, UPS and its employees, active and retired, invested more than $104.2 million in charitable giving around the world. The UPS Foundation can be found on the web at UPS.com/foundation. To get UPS news direct, visit pressroom.ups.com/RSS.

"The UPS Foundation is honored to support Gowanda's Historic Hollywood Theater in their efforts to historically restore and reopen this great community asset," said Eduardo Martinez, president of the UPS Foundation. "Our goal is to fund powerful programs that make a lasting difference to the global community."Schedule
